Dansco Coin Album - Washington Quarters - (1932 - 1998)
The Washington Quarters 1932-1998 Dansco Album comes in a 1 1/8" binder and holds up to 168 coins. The album has 7 Dansco pages (series: 8140-1 to 8140-3, 7140-1 to 7140-7), each one holding and displaying all Washington quarters minted from 1932-1998. The 1932 Washington Quarter was created to commemorate George Washington's 200th birthday. In 1976 the Treasury launched a contest to select a new reverse for the Bicentennial Quarter. The winning design was by Jack L. Arh. Except for the dating "1776-1976" the obverse of the coins remained unchanged through their entire mintage. In 1977 the Washington quarters went back to their original reverse design. From 1932-1964 quarters were made of 90% silver and 10% copper, each weighing 6.25 grams. From 1965 to Date quarters have a pure copper inner core and an outer layer made of 75% copper and 25% nickel, each weighing 5.67 grams. All Washington quarters measure 24.3 mm in diameter. Dansco Coin Albums have their pages attached with metal screws, making it easy to add and replace. This album is Dansco item 7140.
